History
WatsonStrategic was founded in 1983 as “Watson & Watson”, by Bob and Tom Watson, in a little office in Winter Park, FL (and yes, we did have one of those Motorola DynaTACs, and our bill ran nearly $2,000 a month). In 1985, we moved the company to the Upper West Side of New York City, and renamed it "Sales Research & Development Corporation". We began as an East-Coast-based, management consulting firm focused on solving sales and operational problems, and over the next 15 years, we evolved into a Silicon-Valley-based, strategic development firm focused on solving strategic problems and increasing shareholder value.
By 2001, the firm had been renamed WatsonStrategic, and we had associates on both coasts, including Roland Alden, our key technologist, and Andrew Watson, our hardware and distribution guy. Over the years, our associates have come and gone (and come back again), usually to start new ventures or to fill a CEO position at a startup or turnaround. This makes WatsonStrategic one of the few small strategic development teams where every member of the team is a serial CEO.
